Many say, I want change. I want it now. I want it badly. I pray for change, wish for change, look for change, but won't change anything personally. I'll just wait for it.

MAKING ANY CHANGE is like buying brand new shoes, but leaving them in the closet. Those old loafers FEEL better even though they look.. well, pretty old. Not even another coat of Kiwi polish will pass them off an anything other than worn-out and outmoded. "OK, I'll try it the new way ...may next time." New shoes hurt. They're stiff and make my toes throb. I can't wait to put the old ones back on! So do all changes to your business...they feel awkward, unfamiliar, nowhere ascomfortable as the old, traditional way.  Like it or not, you need to break in those new tools and business practices (one-hour investor consultation, e.g.), recognizing that like new shoes, they'll fit better real soon. But you must keep on wearing them. Come on...throw out that old pair! Get those sleek ones out of the closet.

IT'S AUTUMN, time for cleaning up, preparing for next year's end, time to sit down with yourself, and honestly review your goals, activities and results. You can't use the current market as your new excuse. COVID, inflation, interest rates! Are you adapting, pivoting, prospecting?  Are you following the CBC system, or continuing to skip steps like meeting callers in front of properties? Are you verifying available funds before wasting too much time with commercial customers? Seeking clients that are qualified, motivated? How's your listing presentation? Your analyzing and pricing skills? Your confidence in prospecting, presenting, negotiating, closing?

OURS IS A SIMPLE BUSINESS. Real estate is all about meeting people and trying to assist them. We're in the people business. Helping them build for a successful retirement, creating wealth and financial certainty. We're in the rapport building business, learning to like and trust each other before doing business together. We're in the friendship business too, knowing that real friendships last a lifetime and become a tremendous referral resource.

WHAT CHANGES will be make for the upcoming new year? Why wait until then? Now's the time to install and break in those new shiny shoes!
